Friend -- You may have heard that NKT monks and nuns are not authentic. This is reported in a politically motivated statement recently issued by the Australian Sangha Association (ASA) that is now doing the rounds on the internet. NKT monks and nuns are authentic and try to show a good and practical example of service, celibacy and humility for our modern world. Buddha Shakyamuni himself said that the Vinaya should be practiced in accordance with what is most acceptable for society. The NKT is following this advice from Buddha. A reply to the ASA follows. Help push back with the truth: Together we can make sure these negative and divisive attacks don't harm this beautiful Buddhist tradition. Thanks for your help.
